Old Patriarch

Golushev a very well known artist in Russia was born in Leningrad. His parents had five children; all of them became astists. When he was ten, he did excellent drawings, nobody could belive they were drawn by a ten year old. When the war started, he was mobilized to a defense factory. The factory was transferred from Leningrad to Ural. Golushev worked on the military plant in Sverdlovskk for five years. He did a lot of sketches at this period, which later were used for his major paintings. Communist authorities several times criticized him for this influence. In spite of this, everybody understood he was a very talented artist, excellent colorist and hard-strike drawer. He participated in many regional and international shows. His work can be found in Moscow, Leningrad and Kiev Art Museums. He is a well-known artist among art collectors in France, Great Britian and Germany. He was married, had two daughters. He died in 1989 in Leningrad.
