Spring Came to Siberia

Igor Selishev (42x69)
Igor was born in 1917. He graduated from the Kiev Art Academy in 1937. He loved the Ukraine, and was in opposition towards Russia and was often discriminated by authorities. His public statements towards Russian National Policy were a reason that he was not welcome on the art shows in Moscow and Leningrad. He was a wonderful artist. His favorite subjects were Ukrainian farmers and the countryside. He was a wonderful master of landscape. About 50 of his paintings are exhibited in the Kiev Art Museum. he is a very well known artist in Europe and his paintings can be found in several private collections in London, Paris and Rome. Most of his other paintings can be found in Kiev, Kharkov, Odessa and the Lvov Art Museums. He had two daughters; they are also well-known artists in the Ukraine. His paintings "Spring Came", "Farmer's House" were exhibited in Canada in 1989.

Godunov was born 1920 in Leningrad in an engineer's family. In 1939 he was mobilized to the Soviet Army. He was wounded during the war against Finland. It was a very unpopular war against this small country, but Godunov made many sketches during this period, which were used in his future paintings about the war. In 1947 he entered Leningrad Art Academy which he graduated from in 1952. In 1956 he was accepted as a teacher, where he worked until 1984. he liked to paint people, intelligence's and students. Authorities criticized him for this. To paint workers and farmers was a main preference in Soviet Art during this period of time. Students loved Godunov for his generosity, understanding and teaching abilities. He was well known in the Academy as a great colorist. Many of his paintings were sold to private collectors in Japan in the '60's His art can be found in major museums in Russia. Leningrad Art Museum has the biggest collection of his art. He was married, had 2 daughters. He died in 1992 in Leningrad. His painting "Two Young Girls" was exhibited in Tretiakov Art Gallery.

Golushev Victor Michailovich (32x40)
Golushev a very well known artist in Russia was born in Leningrad. His parents had five children; all of them became astists. When he was ten, he did excellent drawings, nobody could belive they were drawn by a ten year old. When the war started, he was mobilized to a defense factory. The factory was transferred from Leningrad to Ural. Golushev worked on the military plant in Sverdlovskk for five years. He did a lot of sketches at this period, which later were used for his major paintings. Communist authorities several times criticized him for this influence. In spite of this, everybody understood he was a very talented artist, excellent colorist and hard-strike drawer. He participated in many regional and international shows. His work can be found in Moscow, Leningrad and Kiev Art Museums. He is a well-known artist among art collectors in France, Great Britian and Germany. He was married, had two daughters. He died in 1989 in Leningrad.

He was born January 12, 1932 in Kiev and graudated from the Kiev Art Institute in 1960. His paintings can be found in many private collections in France, England, Germany and Italy. He works as an independent Artist in Kiev. "Lady carrying water" came from the Dnepropetrovsk Museum.

Lisov was born September 25, 1916 in Donetsk. He graduated from the Kiev Art Institute in 1946. His paintings can be found in Moscow, Donetsk, Leningrad, Odessa Art Museums and private collections in USA, Canada, France and Australia.

Anatoli Aleaxandrovich Kostenko (19x27)
Mr. Kostenko was born March 29, 1920 in Dnepropetrovsk and graduated from dnepropetrovsk Art Institute in 1948. Frm 1957 he participated in many art shows in Ukraine and Russia. He is a very good portraitist and landscape artist. Many of his paintings are devoted to workers in Dnepropetrovsk. Many paintings are eaxhibited in Moscow, Odessa and Kiev Art Museum and also in private collections in France and Great Britain.

Sleta was born in Kiev October 3, 1911 and graudated from the Kiev Art Academy in 1939. He worked as a professor all of his life at the Kiev Art Academy. His work can be found in Moscow, Leningrad, Kiev and Berlin Art Museums. He participated in many art shows. His work can be foundin private collections in France, Great Britain, Germany and Italy. Landlord with Whip came from the Dnepropetrovsk Art Museum.

Born in Kiev on March 15, 1928. Graduated from Kiev Art Institute in 1955. His paintings can be found in many private collections in Germany and Austria and also in Kiev, Odessa Art Museums.

Mr. Tkathyk was born in Kiev august 10, 1932. He graduated from the Kiev Art Institute in 1959. His paintings can be found in Kiev, Kharkov, Odessa Art Museums and private collections in France and Italy. Dancers came from the Dnepropetrovsk Museum.

Mr. Gorbachenko was born in Dnepropetrovsk February 22, 1925, he attended and graduated from the Kiev Art Institute (1955-1960). He taught art at the Kiev Art School for many years and participated in many art shows in USSR and abroad. He is a very well known artist in France where he had a personal exhibition in Paris in 1995. He painted many historical paintings, which were devoted to the history of Ukraine most of which can be found in the Kiev Art Museum and private collections in France.

Andrei Potapenko is an honored artist of Ukraine. He was born in Dnepropetrovsk January 5, 1925. He graduated from Dnepropetrovsk Art Institute in 1949. All of his life he worked as a professor of Art at the same school. His painings can be found in many private collections in Germany, France, Italy and Art Museums in Moscow, Leningrad and Kiev. He still works in Dnepropetrovsk as an independent artist.
